Just Roll Down The Hill

Sometimes when you get advice, you need to think about where that advice is coming from and what was the context that it was originally learned in.
Was it an "OMG! that's just common sense" thing, Or was it an old school life lesson learned the hard way, from trial and especially error and plain ol' osmosis?

In this vignette lets consider the source of the advice, "Just roll down the hill", and weather or not it's sound.
