Goin' Up The Country

Labor-Day Weekend - 2008

Who ever said, "Getting there is half the fun" was only partially right.
It's fun getting there, But it's not half the fun. Barry was in his motor home and really rippin' up the highway at 58 mph. He had to go out and around Boston via 128 to avoid the tunnels. They gave me the wave off to go straight through and We'll see 'Ya in Maine.

Somehow I had a brain fart and blew by the 95 exit and finally woke up in New Hampshire. Kind of a "Where the hell are we" moment. Had to take some back roads across New Hampshire to get back on course. Barry and crew were already in Maine busting a gut laughing at me with no sense of direction. ( No wonder I get lost in the woods! )

Barry was determined to keep the lead and beat me into Camp. He cranked it up to like 62 mph for the rest of the ride and succeeded in getting there before me.
"Getting there is half the fun!" Depends on your point of view.

Sometimes if you give a kid a camera you'll get some nondescript pictures.

But a lot of times you'll get some real gems too.

The desktop application you see in the slideshow zooming in from outer space to Maine, is Google Earth. Yes 'my friends' we're in Google Earth now.
